Jordan Goeckner pitched a three-hitter and Kaylee Niebrugge drove in a pair of runs, lifting the Teutopolis Lady Shoes to a 3-0 win over Marshall and a split of their two games Saturday at the Breese Mater Dei Tournament.

The Lady Shoes dropped a 4-1 decision to Mater Dei in their opening game.

Goeckner was outstanding in her seven-inning, complete-game performance. She scattered the three hits, while walking three and striking out four.

T-Town scored a single tally in the first and then added two more in the fifth.

In the first inning, Erin Althoff led off with a base hit. Niebrugge also singled and Courtney Gibson came through with an RBI single to put the Lady Shoes on top.

It stayed 1-0 until the top of the fifth. Althoff had a one-out single and Emily Konkel walked. After both runners moved up a base on a double steal, Niebrugge lined a base hit, driving in two.

In the first game, THS was limited to three hits, with two of those coming in the opening inning. Konkel had a single, stole second and scored on an RBI double by Niebrugge. Olivia Coppleā€™s single in the fifth was the only other hit.

Mater Dei tied the game with a run in the first and then added another in the fifth and two in the seventh.

Gibson pitched a strong game, but took the loss. She allowed seven hits and four runs, while walking three and striking out 10.

The Lady Shoes are now 16-7. They will return home to face Effingham on Tuesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
