Olivia Hemmen threw a four-hitter and Malea Helmink drove in four runs, helping the Teutopolis Lady Shoes post a 14-0, five-inning victory at home Monday over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
Hemmen walked just one and struck out five in her five innings of work.
The Lady Shoes broke the game open with an eight-run second inning. Hemmen and Kayleigh Zerrusen both walked to get things started. CJ Apke drove in one run with a base hit and Alyssa Tipton followed with a two-run single. Olivia Copple singled and Summer Wall reached on an error to load the bases.
After Chloe Hoene’s ground ball drove in a run, Helmink followed with a two-run triple. Before the inning was over, Zerrusen added a two-run single to stake THS to the 8-0 lead.
T-Town added two tallies in the third and capped their scoring with a four-run fourth.
The Lady Shoes finished with 12 hits. Ten different batters got into the hit column, with Helmink and Copple both collecting two.
Teutopolis improved to 10-7 on the season. They will play at Windsor/Stew-Stras on Thursday.
