The Effingham Lady Hearts competed in the Edwards County Volleyball Tournament Saturday and finished the day with a 3-2 mark.
Effingham opened with a three-set loss to Grayville. The scores were 14-25, 25-20, 14-16; The Lady Hearts then defeated Casey-Westfield 25-12, 25-8; and Flora 25-18, 25-20. EHS fell to Carmi in three sets – 20-25, 29-27, 14-16, but bounced back to win the finale against Fairfield. Those scores were 25-15, 25-21.
For the Lady Hearts, Brueklyn Belcher had 2 kills, 1 dig, 3 blocks; Mattie Angel 5 assists, 3 digs; Eliza Montgomery 7 kills, 1 dig, 5 blocks; Taylor O’Dell 1 kill, 36 assists, 13 digs; Hayley Dively 48 assists, 4 aces, 17 digs; Alexis Chrappa 54 kills, 3 assists, 5 aces, 44 digs, 5 blocks; Kennedy Sowell 18 kills, 3 aces, 5 digs, 6 blocks; Tori Budde 10 assists, 3 digs; Katie Carie 1 kill; Jacy Boatman 28 kills, 3 assists, 12 digs, 2 blocks; Callie Feldhake 14 kills, 1 assist, 9 aces, 11 digs, 2 blocks; Morgan Hagler 1 assist, 3 aces, 20 digs; Olivia Martin 1 kill, 9 assists, 2 aces, 56 digs; and Annie Frost 1 kills, 2 blocks.
EHS will play at home Tuesday against Mattoon.
The Effingham Lady Hearts made the trip to Mahomet-Seymour Thursday night and dropped an Apollo Conference volleyball match.
The scores were 25-15, 25-12.
For EHS, Brueklyn Belcher had 1 kill, 1 dig; Eliza Montgomery 1 kill, 1 assist, 1 dig, 1 block; Taylor O’Dell 4 assists, 1 ace, 3 digs; Alexis Chrappa 1 kill, 3 digs, 1 block; Kennedy Sowell 1 kill, 1 assist; Jacy Boatman 5 kills, 8 digs; Callie Feldhake 2 kills, 1 dig; and Morgan Hagler 4 digs.
The Lady Hearts junior varsity made quite a comeback. After dropping the opening game 5-25, they rebounded to win 25-23, 15-13. The hosts won the freshman contest by scores of 21-11, 21-12.
Effingham, now 13-14 on the season, will play Saturday in the Albion Tournament.
The Effingham Lady Hearts volleyball team competed in the Pana Invitational on Saturday and finished with a 2-3 record.
Effingham dropped its first two matches – 23-25, 25-23, 6-15 to St. Thomas More; and 19-25, 22-25 to Newton.
The Lady Hearts then bounced back to win their next two contests – 25-23, 25-19 over Shelbyville; and 25-10, 25-20 over Neoga.
In the final match, Effingham fell to Shelbyville. The scores were 15-25, 20-25.

The Lady Trojans prevailed 25-15, 25-23.
For the Lady Hearts, Eliza Montgomery had 1 kill, 2 digs, 1 block; Taylor O’Dell 4 assists, 2 digs; Hayley Dively 8 assists, 1 ace, 9 digs; Alexis Chrappa 6 kills, 1 ace, 11 digs; Kennedy Sowell 1 kill; Sam Urch 1 kill, 1 ace, 2 digs, 3 blocks; Jacy Boatman 3 kills, 10 digs; Callie Feldhake 4 kills, 1 ace, 1 dig, 1 block; Morgan Hagler 1 assist, 3 digs; and Olivia Martin 2 kills, 3 assists, 7 digs.
Charleston also won the junior varsity and freshman matches. The scores in the JV match was 25-17, 25-20; and the scores of the freshman contest was 16-21, 21-15, 15-13.
The Lady Hearts now 12-14 on the season, will play Thursday at Mahomet-Seymour.
Effingham hosted Lincoln Thursday night and posted a two-game victory in Apollo Conference volleyball action.
The Lady Hearts won 25-14, 25-20.
