The Dieterich Movin’ Maroons received seven walks in the fifth inning and turned them into seven runs, en route to an 8-1 win at home Friday afternoon over St. Anthony.
The game was tied at 1-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth. A single and two walks got things started and was followed by two more base hits and five walks, helping the Movin’ Maroons take control of the contest.
And that was more than enough for Matt Hunzinger, who gave up just two hits and an unearned run in his 89-pitch performance. He walked one and struck out six while going the distance.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. Logan Antrim walked, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jack Hoene and scored on an error. Kaden Fearday had a one-out single in the fourth and Aaron Webb got a base hit with two outs in the seventh, but those were the team’s only hits
St. Anthony dropped to 7-5 on the season. The Bulldogs will play at home Monday against Ramsey.
