For the second straight game, the St. Anthony Bulldogs rode a 10-hit attack to victory, posting a 10-7 win at home over Mattoon Tuesday afternoon.

The hosts jumped to a 5-0 lead in the second inning. Brody Niebrugge started things with a lead-off single. Angelo Mendella reached on an error and the hot-hitting Will Hoene followed with an RBI single to put the Bulldogs on top. Also for the second straight game, Hoene collected three hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Eli Link and Beau Adams also had run-scoring singles in the second and Brady Hatton added a two-run double to make it 5-0.

SAHS added two runs in the fourth and fifth and a single tally in the sixth. The Green Wave made it close with a four-run seventh, capped by a three-run homer from Kaden Jung.

Niebrugge was the starter and went the first four innings to get the win. He gave up four hits and one run, while walking three and striking out four. Brock Jansen, Brock Fearday and Josh Blanchette also pitched.

The Bulldogs, who improved to 5-2, are scheduled to play at home today (Wednesday) against South Central and Thursday at Mt. Zion.
