Angelo Mendella blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the St. Anthony Bulldogs to a 4-1 win over Salem Thursday and extend their winning streak to 10 straight games.

Salem’s Griffin Day took a three-hit shutout into that sixth inning. Connor Roepke walked and Beau Adams singled to get the rally started. A fielder’s choice, plus an error, accounted for the first run. After Will Hoene walked, Mendella then belted a 1-2 pitch over the leftfield fence to put the Bulldogs on top.

Max Koenig pitched the final two innings to get the win. He didn’t allow a hit, walked one and struck out two. Brady Hatton pitched a strong five innings, allowing only three hits and one run in the second inning. He walked four and struck out four.

The Bulldogs are now 11-2 on the season. They will return to action today (Friday) at Altamont.
