The St. Anthony Bulldogs exploded for 13 runs in the opening inning and then rolled to a 15-0, three-inning victory over South Central in a game played Tuesday afternoon at Lake Land College.
The Bulldogs nearly went through the lineup twice, sending 17 batters to the plate in that first inning. They had five hits, five walks, three hit batters and took advantage of one error.
Eli Levitt started the uprising with a walk. With one out, Colton Fearday singled and Will Hoene drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly. But that was just the beginning.
Angelo Mendella was hit by a pitch and Brady Hatton walked to load the bases. Brody Niebrugge and Connor Roepke also walked to force home a pair of runs and a wild pitch let in another. After Brock Fearday walked to load the bases again, Levitt laced a two-run single to make it 6-0.
After a double steal, Beau Adams delivered a base hit that drove home two more. Colton Fearday was hit by a pitch, an error allowed a run to come in and Mendella followed with another hit to drive in the 10th run. After Hatton was hit by a pitch to once again load the bases, Niebrugge capped the inning with a bases-clearing triple to make it 13-0.
The Bulldogs added single tallies in the second and third.
Levitt pitched all three innings to get the win. He allowed just two hits, while walking one and striking out five.
The Bulldogs improved to 14-3 on the season. They will return to action today (Wednesday) at Windsor/Stew-Stras.
