The St. Anthony Bulldogs took advantage of three errors over the last two innings to come away with a 9-5 victory Friday afternoon at South Central.
The host Cougars held a 5-4 lead after five innings. The Bulldogs combined a hit batter, sacrifice bunt and an error to push across the tying run in the sixth.
In the seventh, Angelo Mendella led things off with a walk. A pair of errors allowed the first two runs to score and Eli Link delivered a two-run double to cap the four-run frame and put St. Anthony on top for good.
The Bulldogs had a 4-1 lead early. Link, who drove in four runs on the day, had a two-run single in the first. After North Clay scored a run in the bottom of the first, SAHS pushed two more runs across in the second. One run scored on an error – the Cougars gave up eight unearned runs on five errors – and Colton Fearday had a two-out RBI single.
North Clay scored another run in the third and three more in the fourth to take the lead.
Eli Levitt pitched the final three innings to get the win. He didn’t allow a hit or a run, while striking out five and walking two. Colton Fearday went the first four innings.
The Bulldogs improved to 10-4 on the season. They will play Saturday at Putnam County.
