Sydney Kibler and Addie Wernsing combined to throw a two-hitter Monday afternoon, helping the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs notch their 17th win of the season, an 8-0 shutout at Dieterich.
Kibler went the first four innings to get the win and Wernsing took care of the final three. They both allowed just one hit. They walked one and struck out eight.
The Lady Bulldogs scored what proved to be the winning runs in the top of the third inning. With two outs, Wernsing walked, stole second and scored on a base hit by Abbi Hatton. Sydney Kibler then delivered another RBI single to stake SAHS to a 2-0 lead.
St. Anthony added two more runs in the fourth, scored a single tally in the fifth and wrapped it up with a three-run sixth. Wernsing and Hatton both had run-scoring hits in that sixth inning.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 17-2 on the season. They will be in action today (Tuesday) with a home game against Tolono Unity.
