Trenton Schwerdt tossed a two-hitter Monday afternoon, leading the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes to a 5-0 victory at South Central.
Schwerdt allowed only a two-out single in the first and a lead-off base hit in the fifth. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out seven in a 76-pitch complete game. The only other baserunner for South Central was a hit batter.
T-Town had six hits and scored single tallies in the first, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh.
Schwerdt drove in the only run he needed with a single in the first inning, bringing in Luke Ungrund, who led off with a walk.
With two outs in the fourth, Matt Deters and Evan Addis walked, Justin Hardiek singled to load the bases and Deters scored on an error.
With one out in the fifth, Mitch Hardiek singled, stole second and scored on a base hit by Mitch Hemmen. The Shoes added a run in the sixth and wrapped up the scoring in the seventh with Hemmen driving in his second run with a ground ball.
The Shoes, now 11-1, will be at home Tuesday to face Woodlawn.
