Austin Borries threw a two-hitter and belted a two-run homer Friday afternoon, leading the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes to an 11-0, five-inning victory at home over Marshall.

Borries struck out the first six batters he faced, fanned the side in the fifth and finished with 13 K’s in the game. He allowed only a third-inning double and fourth-inning single. He walked just one batter to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Wooden Shoes took control in the third, erupting for eight runs. Brett Kreke and Garrett Gaddis got it started with back-to-back walks. With one out, Mick Niebrugge ripped a two-run double to get T-Town on the scoreboard.  After Evan Waldhoff walked, Mitch Koester had an RBI double and another run scored on an error.

But the Shoes weren’t finished. Zac Niebrugge added a two-run double and Kreke and Gaddis capped the inning with RBI hits.

THS added three more tallies in the fourth, two of those coming in on the home run by Borries.

The Shoes, now 16-8, will play another home game Monday against Effingham.
