Mitch Hemmen went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in four runs Friday, helping the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes cruise to a 13-2, five-inning decision over Odin/Patoka.
Hemmen had an RBI single in the first and fifth and drove home a pair with a base hit in the second.
The Shoes scored five times in the first two innings. In the opening frame, Luke Ungrund and Mitch Hardiek started things off with consecutive walks. Hemmen’s first hit drove in the first run and Evan Addis made it 2-0 with an RBI ground out.
A double by Brady McMahon, an error and a single by Justin Hardiek loaded the bases in the second. One run scored on an error and Hemmen then made it 5-1 with a two-run single.
T-Town scored three more times in the fourth and wrapped things up with a five-run fifth. Evan Wermert, who drove home three in the game, had a two-run single in the fourth and an RBI hit in the fifth.
Mitch Hardiek pitched the first four innings to get the win. He gave up 3 hits and two runs, while walking four and striking out five. Addis pitched the fifth.
The Shoes improved to 7-2 with the win. They are at home today (Saturday) against Cobden.
