The Teutopolis Lady Shoes used a big second half to pull away and post a 59-46 victory Saturday afternoon over Civic Memorial in the consolation championship game of the Apex Network Physical Therapy Highland Girls Basketball Tournament.

It was the third straight win in the tourney after dropping the opener to Taylorville and it avenged a 43-26 setback to Civic Memorial just 12 days prior.

It was a close game throughout the first half. Sophomore Anna Probst connected on three three-pointers and scored 15 first-half points, as the Lady Shoes took a 24-21 lead into the locker room at intermission.

But T-Town began expanding that lead in the third period. Chloe Probst scored eight points and Mollie Ruholl and Anna Probst both knocked down shots from behind the arc, helping the Lady Shoes outscore Civic Memorial 18-10 and take a 42-30 advantage into the final eight minutes.

The Teutopolis girls then made 11-of-14 free throws in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory. Sophomore Kelsey Niemerg was 5-for-5 from the line.

Anna Probst finished with a game-high 21 points. Chloe Probst and Niemerg were also in double figures, scoring 15 and 11 points respectively. Chloe Probst also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and T-Town’s defense forced 16 turnovers.

The Lady Shoes are now 16-7 on the season. They will return to action Tuesday with a home game against Altamont.
