Mt. Zion used a big second quarter to gain control of the game and went on to post a 55-39 win at home Tuesday night over Teutopolis.

The Wooden Shoes held an 8-4 lead after the opening eight minutes. But Lyncoln Koester and JC Anderson combined to score 21 points in the second period, helping the Braves outscore the Wooden Shoes 23-8 and take a 27-16 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Mt. Zion outscored T-Town 15-5 in the third period to build the lead to 42-21 heading into the fourth period.

Koester finished with 22 points, while Anderson added 18 for the Braves, who improved to 20-1 on the season.

Garrett Gaddis paced the Shoes with nine points. Austin Bloemer pulled down six rebounds and Mitch Koester had four assists.

The Shoes dipped to 13-7 on the season. They will play two more games this week – Friday at home against Breese Mater Dei and Saturday against Centralia at the Pinckneyville Shootout.
