The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes put together strong second and third quarters Friday night, en route to a 62-49 victory at home over Breese Mater Dei.
The hosts had a slim 16-15 lead after the opening eight minutes, but then outscored the Knights 31-16 over the next 16 minutes – 15-8 in the second quarter; 16-8 in the third period – to open a 47-31 margin heading into the final quarter.
Garrett Gaddis paced T-Town with 13 points, while Tyler Pruemer and Joey Niebrugge both scored 10. Gaddis, Niebrugge and Pruemer each had six rebounds, and Pruemer and Niebrugge also dished out six assists.
The Shoes improved to 14-7 on the season. They will be back in action today (Saturday), facing Centralia in the Pinckneyville Shootout. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
