The Teutopolis Lady Shoes battled Class 2A’s No. 1 team in the state tough before dropping a 46-35 decision at home to Breese Central.
The Lady Cougars built a 22-9 halftime lead before T-Town made a third quarter rally. Anna Probst knocked down a three-pointer and scored seven points and Kelsey Niemerg added four more, helping the Lady Shoes outscore Breese Central 20-12 and close the margin to 34-29 heading into the final eight minutes.
The Lady Cougars converted 7-of-9 free throws in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory and improve to 23-3 on the season.
Anna Probst finished with nine points to lead THS in scoring. Chloe Probst had seven and Mollie Ruholl added six.
The Lady Shoes are now 17-9 on the season. They will be back in action Monday night, traveling to play Breese Mater Dei. The Lady Knights are 19-5 and ranked 5th in 2A.
