For the second game in a row, the Teutopolis Lady Shoes faced a ranked team from Breese.

And for the second straight game, they put up a good battle.

In fact, they let one get away Monday night.

The Lady Shoes built a 15-point halftime lead. But the 5th-ranked Breese Mater Dei Lady Knights staged a second half rally and came back to post a 51-44 win at home.

Things started well for T-Town. Chloe Probst scored seven points in the opening quarter and THS built a 14-10 lead. The Lady Shoes then outscored Mater Dei 19-8 in the second period to take a 33-18 advantage to the locker room at halftime. Chloe Probst and Mollie Ruholl combined to score 21 points in the first half.

But things changed in the third quarter. The Lady Knights forced some turnovers and began cutting into the lead. The hosts went on a 15-5 scoring spree to trim the margin to 38-33 heading into the final eight minutes.

Maris Zurliene, who scored 14 of her game-high 16 points in the second half, knocked down a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points in the fourth period, as the Lady Knights outscored THS 18-6 to pull ahead and come away with victory.

Mater Dei is now 20-6 on the season.

Chloe Probst scored 13 points and Ruholl added 12 for Teutopolis.

The Lady Shoes are now 17-10. They will return to action Friday with their annual game against Bloomington Central Catholic, which is played at Parkland College in Champaign.
