The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes outscored Newton 26-13 in the second half Tuesday to rally from a halftime deficit and post a 43-34 road victory.
The host Eagles used a 17-8 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take a 21-17 lead at intermission. But the Shoes responded with a 14-5 surge in the third period to go on top 31-26, heading into the final period. T-Town then outscored Newton 12-8 in the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Garrett Gaddis was the only THS player in double figures, finishing with 15 points. Joey Niebrugge pulled down 11 rebounds and Mitch Koester had 3 steals and 3 assists.
The Shoes improved to 15-8 on the season. They will be back in action Friday night when they travel to Effingham to face the state’s No. 1 Class 1A team, the St. Anthony Bulldogs.
