The Teutopolis Lady Shoes grabbed an early lead and then used an 11-run explosion to roll to a 16-1 win at home Monday afternoon over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

The Lady Shoes started quickly, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Erin Althoff singled, Emily Konkel walked and Kaylee Niebrugge got a base hit to load the bases with one out. Danielle Sarchet got T-Town on the board with a two-run double. After Estella Mette was hit by a pitch, Courtney Gibson cleared the bases with a triple, staking the hosts to that 5-0 lead.

Teutopolis put the game away with an 11-run third. The Lady Shoes combined nine hits, a hit batter and two errors to break it open.

Jordan Goeckner got the win. She pitched three innings, allowing two hits and one run. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out four.

The Lady Shoes improved to 8-2. They will return to action Thursday and play at Windsor/Stew-Stras.
