Ashley Campbell’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth broke up a scoreless pitcher’s duel and gave Mahomet-Seymour a 1-0 Apollo Conference victory at home Thursday over Teutopolis.

T-Town’s Tia Probst and Mahomet-Seymour’s Karley Yergler hooked up in quite a pitcher’s battle. Probst scattered six hits, while Yergler gave up just three.

In the bottom of the ninth, Kenadi Granadino walked to start the inning for the Lady Bulldogs. With one out, Yergler doubled and Campbell followed with a base hit to end the contest.

Probst walked seven and struck out 13 in 8.1 innings of work. Yergler didn’t walk a batter a fanned 10 in her nine innings.

The Lady Shoes were set down in order five times and had just five base runners in the game. They only time they had two runners on base in the same at-bat was the eighth. Courtney Gibson had a one-out single and Erin Althoff was hit by a pitch with two outs.

Gibson also had a double in the fifth and Probst had a double in the second. Daischa Piedra also reached base when she struck out in the fourth, but the ball got away from the catcher.

The Lady Shoes dipped to 10-7 overall and 1-3 in the conference. They will play another Apollo Conference contest Saturday at Taylorville.
