The Teutopolis Lady Shoes traveled to Cumberland County Monday night and dropped a close two-game match.
The Lady Pirates prevailed 25-23, 25-20.
“It was a really poor night for Teutopolis volleyball,” THS coach Tim Mills said. “The varsity had 27 unforced errors in two sets, which means we basically spotted them 13 points in each. Combine that with a low hitting percentage and you’re not going to beat very many teams.
“Cumberland played with a lot of energy and their offense moved our defenders,” Mills added. “Their setters did a nice job of varying their sets and they mixed in enough tips to keep our defenders guessing.”
For T-Town, Kelsey Deters had 8 digs, 2 points, 33 sets, 16 assists; Holly Heuerman 11 digs, 3 points, 4 sets; Emily Konkel 1 hit, 3 points; Erica Michels 10 digs, 24 hits, 11 kills, 3 points; Lexie Niebrugge 5 digs, 15 hits, 1 kill, 5 points; Ciara Roepke 1 block, 7 digs, 13 hits, 9 kills, 4 points, 4 sets, 1assist; and Kaitlyn Schumacher 1 block, 5 hits.

The Lady Shoes, who dipped to 17-15, will play again tonight (Tuesday). They will be at home against Robinson.
The Teutopolis Lady Shoes notched their 15th volleyball victory of the fall season Tuesday night, defeating Altamont in three games at home.
The scores were 25-20, 18-25, 25-16.
“Winning back-to-back games against teams that have the No. 1 seed in their regionals is pretty awesome,” said THS coach Tim Mills. “We would really like to be playing our best volleyball when the regionals start. We have eight matches remaining.
“We failed to put them away in two sets again tonight,” Mills added. “After a pretty dominant performance in the first set, we were really sloppy in set two. As we did against Newton Monday night, we came out in set three with renewed energy and built a quick lead with very good serving and some overpowering attacks. We ran out to a 10-point lead and never looked back.”
For T-Town, Kelsey Deters had 8 digs, 2 aces, 3 points, 55 sets, 21 assists; Hannah Rodgers 1 set; Holly Heuerman 8 digs, 2 hits, 1 ace, 3 points; Emily Konkel 2 blocks, 1 dig, 2 kills, 2 aces, 4 points, 1 set; Carly Michels 1 block, 9 digs, 20 hits, 9 kills, 2 points, 3 sets; Erica Michels 1 block, 14 digs, 24 hits, 13 kills, 1 ace, 5 points, 6 sets, 2 assists; Lexie Niebrugge 4 digs, 2 hits, 1 ace, 3 points; Ciara Roepke 1 block, 5 digs, 12 hits, 7 kills, 5 aces, 14 points, 4 sets, 1 assist; and Kaitlyn Schumacher 2 blocks, 4 hits, 3 kills.
