South Central fell behind by four runs, but rallied for a 7-4 victory at St. Anthony.

The Bulldogs built a 4-0 lead after three innings, but the Cougars scored four times in the fourth to tie it and then pushed across three more tallies in the sixth to get the win.

SAHS grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Logan Antrim led off with a double and eventually scored when a third strike on Eli Moore got away from the South Central catcher.

In the third, Connor Roepke’s lead-off single sparked a three-run inning. Roepke stole second and scored on a base hit by Moore. Brody Niebrugge then ripped an RBI double and eventually scored on a passed ball.

Chase Dotson went the first six innings to get the win for South Central. Antrim got the loss. He pitched 5.1 innings, allowing five hits and six runs, while walking three and striking out seven.

The Bulldogs, now 8-9, will play at home Thursday against Teutopolis.

Hay Ergland and Josh Tiemann combined for six hits and seven RBI Wednesday afternoon, leading Woodlawn to an 8-2 victory at home over St. Anthony.

Ergland had three hits and drove home four, while Tiemann also collected three hits with three RBI. In addition, Tiemann turned in a strong seven-inning performance on the mound. He limited the Bulldogs to three hits, while walking three and striking out four.

Logan Antrim had all three hits for St. Anthony. He had a lead-off double in the first. He then stole third base and scored on a fly ball by Kennan Walsh. He also singled in the third and fifth. The Bulldogs used an error, a hit batter and a groundout by Josh Blanchette to score their last run in the second.

Colton Fearday pitched five innings for SAHS and took the loss. He allowed seven hits and seven runs, but six were unearned. He struck out seven and walked two.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 7-5 on the fall season. They will host Brownstown/St. Elmo on Friday.

Woodlawn scored in four of the seven innings Wednesday afternoon, en route to a 9-4 victory at St. Anthony.

The Cardinals scored three times in the first inning, then added two-run frames in the third, sixth and seventh.

Brier Van Eyke belted a home run and Woodlawn jumped to a 5-1 lead after three innings.

The Bulldogs did chip away, scoring once in the first and fourth and adding two more runs in the fifth.

With two outs in the bottom of the first, Eli Moore lined a double and Brody Niebrugge followed with an RBI single.

In the fourth, Colton Fearday singled and Will Hoene walked to start the inning. After a wild pitch moved the runners up a base, Josh Blanchette’s ground ball drove in Fearday.

With one out in the fifth, Kennan Walsh ripped a triple and Eli Moore drove him in with a base hit. Two Woodlawn errors helped St. Anthony push across another run in the inning.

Logan Antrim started for SAHS and took the loss.

The Bulldogs are now 8-6. They will play Friday at Teutopolis. Game time will be at 4:30 p.m.

When St. Anthony’s Brody Niebrugge blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning Tuesday afternoon, there was no way he could have known that would prove to be the winning run.

His four-bagger increased the Bulldogs lead to 6-1, and as it turned out, they needed every one of those.

North Clay rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh and had the tying and go-ahead runners on base before being retired and dropping a 6-5 decision.

St. Anthony had that five-run lead and was riding a three-hitter by starting pitcher Logan Antrim entering the final inning. But after allowing five straight base runners and then reaching his 106-pitch limit, Antrim was relieved by Seth Hotze and SAHS still on top, 6-3.

Hotze give up a two-run single and a walk, but also recorded two strikeouts to earn the save and preserve the victory for Antrim and the Bulldogs.

Antrim was dominant for six innings, allowing just the two hits and striking out 12.

St. Anthony built a 5-0 lead after three innings.

The Bulldogs scored twice in the first, thanks to two errors, a base hit by Kennan Walsh and an RBI groundout by Niebrugge, who drove in three runs in the game. It became 3-0 in the second when Eli Levitt and Josh Blanchette both singled and Antrim delivered a sacrifice fly.

In the third, Eli Moore singled and scored when Niebrugge ripped a double. Colton Fearday, who had three hits in the game, then came through with an RBI single to make it 5-0.

North Clay combined two walks and an error to get on the board in the fifth.

The Bulldogs improved to 7-4 with the win. They play again Wednesday at Woodlawn.
