Craig Croy poured in 23 points, leading the St. Anthony Bulldogs to a 54-42 road win Tuesday night at South Central.
That sets up a showdown with Altamont next week with the National Trail Conference regular season title on the line.
The Bulldogs are now a perfect 7-0 in league play and have clinched at least a share. They will host the Indians next Tuesday night with a chance to claim sole possession. The Indians will enter the contest with one loss in the conference. Altamont defeated St. Anthony in the championship game of the NTC Tournament just 10 days ago.
The Bulldogs got tested by South Central.
Croy knocked down a pair of three-pointers and scored 10 points to help SAHS build an 18-11 lead after the first quarter. The host Cougars came back to get within one point, 24-23, at halftime.
The Bulldogs were up 37-30 entering the final eight minutes. Croy then connected on two more shots from behind the arc and netted 10 points again, helping St. Anthony outscore South Central 17-12 and secure the victory.
The Bulldogs finished with 10 three-pointers in the game. They got five from Croy and three from Griffin Sehy, who finished with nine points. Kyle Stewart and Brock Fearday also connected from long range.
The Bulldogs are now 15-12 on the season overall. They will participate in the Wooden Shoes Shootout on Saturday in Teutopolis. They are scheduled to play Mattoon at 4 p.m.

It was a night to remember for Riley Guy.
Playing for the last time at The Enlow Center, Guy turned in a scoring performance that’s never been done before at St. Anthony High School.
The senior made 14-of-25 shots overall, including 7-of-13 from three-point range, and tallied a career-high and school-record 41 points to lead the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs to a 70-35 victory at home over Brownstown/St. Elmo on Senior Night.
The victory clinched a share of the National Trail Conference. St. Anthony and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City both finished 7-1 in league play.
But the evening belonged to the hot-shooting Guy.
“It was great to see her go to work,” St. Anthony coach Aaron Rios said. “What I liked best was her shots came within the flow of the offense. We ran our sets and she knocked down her shots. You saw tonight her ability as a player.
“She been a huge part of our success this season and certainly helped turn our program around,” Rios added.
Guy’s shooting barrage was incredible, especially in the third and four quarters.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a sluggish start and were tied, 14-14, after the opening eight minutes. Guy had nine of those points.
“Every coach talks about having to play four good quarters,” Rios noted. “We didn’t do that tonight. In that first quarter, we gave up some offensive rebounds and turned the ball over. We were lackadaisical.”

The National Trail Conference Tournament championship trophy will have a new home.
After a four-year stint at St. Anthony, the trophy will now be on display 11 miles southwest of Effingham in the trophy case at Altamont High School.
The host Indians used a strong defensive performance for a full 32 minutes, plus some clutch free throw shooting in the final 55 seconds to come away with a 48-41 victory over the top-seeded St. Anthony Bulldogs in the championship game of the 86th annual NTC Tournament Saturday night in a jam-packed Altamont Gymnasium.
For the Bulldogs, it snapped a 15-game conference tournament winning streak and prevented them from hoisting the trophy for a fifth consecutive year. It was Altamont’s first NTC Tournament title since 2014 and seventh overall since the tourney began in 1935.
“This was a whale of a ballgame,” a happy Altamont coach, John Niebrugge, said. “But it was a grinder. In fact, every game this week was a grinder. Maybe this will start a new streak for us in this tournament. I think this team is ready to get rolling.”
“The historic nature of this tourney is a big reason for the special atmosphere here all week,” St. Anthony coach Cody Rincker added. “Our hats are off to Altamont. They have a very good team and played a good ballgame tonight. They are well-deserving of this victory.”
With just 1:46 left in the third period, it looked like the Indians might have an easy time getting that victory. Tournament MVP Mason Robinson had already knocked down two three-pointers and teammate Noah Klimpel had hit another when Logan Cornett also got into the act from long range.
That fourth three of the period gave Altamont a double-digit advantage, 34-23.
