ET Sports Report

Freshman Lucy Fearday hit a short jumper with 33 seconds to play and that turned out to be the game winner, as the St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs notched their fifth win of the young season with a 46-44 win at home Thursday night over Windsor/Strew-Stras.

The Lady Bulldogs, who led by as many as 10 points early in the game, were still on top by five, 44-39, at the 2:39 mark of the final quarter. But the Lady Hatchets battled back, and after Natalie Hayes converted a turnover into a layup with 44 seconds remaining, the score was tied 44-44.

Fearday scored 11 seconds later and then St. Anthony’s defense forced a turnover with 14 seconds left. Riley Guy was fouled, but there were just two seconds to go. She missed the free throw, but Taylor Beasley got the rebound and the final two ticks went off the clock, securing the victory.

“Overall, I thought we played solid,” said St. Anthony’s first-year coach Aaron Rios. “The girls played within the scheme of what we try to do every night. We were patient on offense, played good defense and did a great job rebounding.”
