The St. Anthony freshman and sophomore basketball teams played host to Breese Central Saturday and dropped both games.
In the freshman contest, Breese Central jumped out to a 22-6 lead, en route to a 66-57 decision. The guests led 38-25 at halftime and 58-38 heading into the final quarter.
The Bulldogs had four players in double figures – Jonathan Willenborg with 18 points, Eli Levitt 12 and both Max Sager and Griffin Sehy with 11.
In the sophomore game, Breese Central outscored St. Anthony 18-11 in the fourth period to pull out a 50-43 victory. The game was tied 32-32 at the end of the third quarter. Brody Niebrugge scored 13 points for the Bulldogs, while Craig Croy had nine.

Cody Rincker said he wasn’t surprised that Neoga tried to slow the game down.
“I was expecting something,” the St. Anthony coach said. “I figured they would do just about anything they could to give them a shot in the fourth quarter. And for three quarters they did that.”
But the fourth quarter was a different story.
The Indians, who trailed by 11 entering the final eight minutes, were forced to speed things up and the Bulldogs exploded.
The No. 1 seed went on a 21-4 scoring spree to pull away and post a 54-26 victory Thursday night in the first semifinal game of the National Trail Conference Tournament, played in Altamont.
That earned the Bulldogs, now 19-3, a berth in the championship game for the fourth straight year. They will face either Altamont or Dieterich at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Those two teams play in the other semifinal at approximately 7:45 tonight (Friday).
The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs grabbed an early lead and continued to build on it, en route to a 65-53 victory at home Monday night over South Central.
St. Anthony led 14-12 after the first eight minutes and 28-21 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs then outscored South Central 37-32 in the second half to secure the win.
St. Anthony had three players in double figures. Lucy Fearday led the way with 20 points, while Riley Guy scored 18 and Reese Jones added 18.
The Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 9-13, will play Saturday at Paris.
The St. Anthony Junior High seventh grade boys basketball team captured its own regional title Wednesday night with a 54-27 victory over Louisville North Clay. Samuel Link scored 16 points and Ryan Schmidt had 13. The Bullpups will now compete in the St. Elmo Class 7-2A Sectional. They will play either Casey-Westfield or Dieterich at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The champs are pictured. St. Anthony outscored Charleston 25-14 in the second quarter Saturday night to build a sizeable lead, en route to a 65-43 road victory.
Jaccob Dust scored all 11 of St. Anthony’s first-quarter points, helping the Bulldogs take an 11-4 lead. But six different players scored in the second period. Jack Hoene and Kaden Fearday both connected on shots from long range and at halftime, SAHS had a comfortable 36-18 advantage.
St. Anthony didn’t let up in the third quarter and heading into the final eight minutes, the Bulldogs were in command, 54-33.
Dust finished with a game-high 24 points to lead three St. Anthony players in double figures. Fearday scored 13 and Hoene added 10.
St. Anthony improved to 17-3 and will next compete in the National Trail Conference Tournament in Altamont. The Bulldogs, the No. 1 seed, will play at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday against either St. Elmo/Brownstown or Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
Charleston won the junior varsity game 51-41. Seth Hotze had seven points for St. Anthony.
