Dillan Elam went 3-for-3 and drove in five runs Wednesday, helping the Altamont Indians post an 8-4 win at home over St. Anthony.

Elam’s key hit was a bases-loaded triple as part of the Indians five-run third that broke up a 1-1 tie. He also had an RBI single in the first and a run-scoring double that finished the scoring in the bottom of the fifth.

St. Anthony got an RBI double from Joey Trupiano in the second that knotted the game at 1-1. After falling behind 6-1, the Bulldogs scored three times in the fourth to close the gap.

Nick Ruholl was hit by a pitch to start the inning. With two outs, Teddy Dietzen walked and Trupiano drove in his second run of the game with a base hit. Colin Westendorf walked to load the bases and Dawson Lohman delivered a base hit, driving home two more.

Altamont then added single tallies in the fourth and fifth.

Sammy Link, the second of four St. Anthony pitchers, took the loss. Kaden Davis got the win for Altamont.

The Bulldogs dipped to 9-4 on the season. They will play Friday at South Central and Saturday at Putnam County.

The St. Anthony Bulldogs banged out 10 hits and scored 12 runs.

And that was just in the first inning.

The Bulldogs finished with a 17-hit attack and posted a 17-0, three-inning victory Tuesday at St. Elmo/Brownstown.

St. Anthony nearly went through the lineup twice in the opening inning, sending 16 batters to the plate. They combined 10 hits, plus one walk, a hit batter and an error to push 12 runs across the plate.

Brody Niebrugge had an RBI double and a two-run single in the inning. Will Hoene drove in a pair with a double, Colton Fearday added a two-run single and Eli Link collected two RBI with a triple. Beau Adams and Brady Hatton also drove in runs with base hits.

SAHS added a single tally in the second and closed out the scoring with a four-run third. Fearday and Niebrugge both had two-run singles in the third.

Colton Fearday went 4-for-4 in the game and finished with four RBI, while Niebrugge had three hits and drove in five. Angelo Mendella and Brock Jansen also had three hits in the game and Hoene had three RBI.

SEB had just two baserunners in the game – and both came on walks. Niebrugge and Brock Fearday combined to throw a three-inning no-hitter. Niebrugge struck out four in two innings and Brock Fearday recorded two strikeouts in his one inning of work.

The Bulldogs, now 9-3, return to action today (Wednesday) when they travel to Altamont.

Beau Adams and Brody Niebrugge drove in the go-ahead runs and Brady Hatton came in to record the final two outs, helping the St. Anthony Bulldogs post a 5-3 win Thursday at Neoga.

The host Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first-inning RBI singles by Ryan Koester and Bryar Hennesey.

But the Bulldogs started their comeback in the third.

Brock Jansen and Will Hoene walked and Adams singled to load the bases with one out. Niebrugge’s ground ball brought home the first run and Colton Fearday singled to tie the game at 2-2.

St. Anthony took the lead in the fourth. Hatton reached on an error with one out and then Jansen singled and Angelo Mendella walked to load the bases again. Adams and Niebrugge then followed with RBI singles to put the Bulldogs on top to stay, 4-2.

SAHS added its final run in the fifth when Eli Levitt ripped a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Hatton.

The Indians trimmed the gap to 5-3 when Luke Rowack delivered a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth.

Neoga then threatened in the seventh. Brady Reynolds led off with a base hit and Rowack walked with one out. Hatton then came on in relief and retired the next two batters on a fly ball and a pop up to preserve the victory and earn the save.

Eli Link pitched the first four innings for the Bulldogs and got the win. He allowed three hits and two unearned runs, while striking out three. He didn’t walk a batter. Jansen pitched the fifth and Brock Fearday went 1.1 innings before Hatton came on to close out the game.

The Bulldogs improved to 8-2 on the season. They will return to action Monday at home against Ramsey.

Jess Weidner raced home on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday, giving North Clay a 2-1 victory over St. Anthony in a match-up of two of the best baseball teams in the area.

A single, error and sacrifice bunt put Cardinal runners on second and third with just one out. After a short fly out for the second out, Weidner sprinted home with the walk-off run when St. Anthony’s Brody Niebrugge uncorked a wild pitch.

North Clay’s Donnie Zimmerman was dominant on the mound. He gave up a lead-off double to Angela Mendella, the first batter of the game, but then retired the next 18 hitters and held a 1-0 lead going to the seventh.

The Bulldogs then managed to tie the game without getting a hit. Beau Adams drew a lead-off walk and advanced to third base after two ground outs. With Eli Levitt at the plate, a Zimmerman pitch got by his catcher for a passed ball, allowing Adams to scamper home with the tying run.

The Cardinals had taken a 1-0 lead in the fifth by scoring an unearned run. With two outs, two batters were hit by a pitch and the run scored on an error.

Zimmerman went all eight innings, allowing just the one hit and one unearned run. He walked two and struck out five, while throwing 77 pitches.

Levitt started for the Bulldogs and turned in six strong innings. He gave up six hits and one unearned run, while walking two and striking out six. Niebrugge relieved in the seventh and took the loss.

The Bulldogs had their five-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 8-3 on the season. They will return home Monday to face Ramsey.

It was a good old-fashioned pitcher’s duel.

St. Anthony’s Colton Fearday and Windsor/Stew-Stras’ Gavan Wernsing hooked up in a gem Tuesday afternoon. Both hurlers allowed just three hits and both reached double digits in strikeouts.

And when the final was recorded, it was Fearday and the Bulldogs that came out on top.

The St. Anthony left-hander struck out seven and walked four, but didn’t allow a base runner to cross the plate, helping the Bulldogs post a 2-0 victory at home.

The Hatchets had two of their hits in the second inning and their final single in the sixth. Their best scoring chance came in the second. After the two singles, a walk loaded the bases with two outs. But Fearday retired Rhett Rincker on a pop up to end the threat.

Wernsing, the hard-throwing right-hander, was also tough. He struck out 11 and walked just one. But he did allow two runs to score.

The first came in the opening inning, but was unearned. Angelo Mendella led off with a double. Colton Fearday reached on an error and Brody Niebrugge walked to load the bases. Will Hoene then drove in the run with a sacrifice fly.

It stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth. Niebrugge lined a one-out double, stole third and scored on a ground ball by Hoene.

St. Anthony’s other hit was a one-out single by Brady Hatton in the second.

The Bulldogs improved to 7-2 on the season. They will play Thursday at Neoga.
