Effingham hosted Salem Monday afternoon and posted a 7-2 victory in girls tennis.

The Lady Hearts won four of the six singles events and then swept the three doubles matches to secure the win.

The Lady Hearts will play today (Tuesday) at St. Anthony.

The Effingham Lady Hearts traveled to Paris Thursday and dropped an 8-1 tennis decision.

Effingham will play Saturday in the Glenwood Titan Invitational.

The Effingham girls traveled to Newton Monday afternoon and dropped a 7-2 decision in tennis.

The Lady Hearts two wins came from Lydia Kull and Eden Wendling in singles.

“We had some changes in our lineup due to an injury with Riley Seachrist,” EHS coach Erik Williamson noted. “So several girls had to play up and did a good job. The highlight was Eden moving up to No. 4 singles and getting a solid win. Our team is continuing to work and getting better.”

The Effingham Lady Hearts turned in a dominating tennis performance Tuesday, sweeping the match and posting a 9-0 win at home over Vandalia.

Effingham didn’t lose a set and dropped a total of just 20 games in the 18 sets.

The Effingham Lady Hearts competed in the Mattoon Invitational Tennis Tournament.

Robinson was the champion of the event, which was played both Friday and Saturday.

No. 3 singles: Lauren Pierson finished 1-1. She beat Gracie Helms (Mattoon), 7-6, 7-6; and lost to Lisa Henry (Robinson), 0-6, 1-6.

No. 1 doubles: Riley Arend/Riley Seachrist went 0-2. They lost to Emily Sherwood/Emma Mason (Casey-Westfield), 7-5, 6-7, 13-15; and then retired due to injury in their second match.
