For the third straight day, Caleb Siemer had a big hit.

But this time, it wasn’t quite enough.

Siemer belted a sixth-inning grand slam and Teutopolis scored another run in the seventh, but it couldn’t completely make up the six-run deficit, as the Wooden Shoes fell short, dropping an 8-7 decision at Nashville.

The Hornets, who improved to 18-4 on the season, scored in four of the first five innings to build an 8-2 lead. A two-run homer by Ian Blazier in the second helped Nashville build that six-run advantage.

But the Shoes came battling back. In the top of the sixth, Mitch Althoff walked, Dylan Pruemer was hit by a pitch and Garrett Gaddis received a free pass to load the bases with no outs. Siemer then drilled an 0-1 pitch over the centerfield fence for a grand slam to narrow the gap to 8-6.

In the seventh, the first two batters got on base. Kayden Althoff reached on an error and Mitch Althoff singled to get things started. Pruemer drove in the run with a ground out, but the final two batters were retired.

T-Town also got single tallies in the first and third inning. Cade Buehnerkemper drove in the first run with a ground out and Kayden Althoff had an RBI single in the third.

Derek Konkel pitched the first four innings and took the loss. He gave up eight hits and six runs – only three were earned – while walking two and striking out five. Joey Niebrugge gave up a pair of runs in the fifth and Siemer went 1.1 innings of scoreless ball.

The Shoes dropped to 10-6 on the season. They will return to action Monday with a home game against South Central.

Caleb Siemer, fresh off his walk-off 10th inning double Thursday, was back at it Friday.

He blasted a three-run homer and drove in four runs total, helping the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes post their fourth straight win, a 10-5 decision at home over Centralia.

It was also a special day for Kayden Althoff. After tearing his ACL in a basketball game in December, the senior got to bat for the first time Friday afternoon and made the most of it. He went 2-for-4 and belted a long solo home run in the sixth inning.

After the Orphans took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Shoes took control with a five-run second.

Mitch Althoff led off by drawing a walk. Dylan Pruemer and Garrett Gaddis both singled to load the bases with no outs. Siemer drove in the first run with a fielder’s choice. With two outs, Max Niebrugge delivered an RBI single, followed by a two-run double by Sam Bushur and another run-scoring double by Cade Buehnerkemper to cap the inning.

T-Town broke it open with a three-run third – thanks to Siemer. Mitch Althoff reached on an error and Pruemer reached base when he swung and missed on strike three, but the ball got away from the catcher. Siemer then drove a 1-2 pitch over the leftfield fence to increase the lead to 8-1.

Pruemer was the winning pitcher. He went the first five innings, allowing three hits and four runs. He walked four and struck out seven. Ben Goeckner and Siemer combined to pitch the final two innings.

The Shoes improved to 10-5 on the season. They will return to action today (Saturday), traveling to Nashville, and then return home Monday to face South Central.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes scored eight runs in the final two innings Tuesday to rally and post a 9-4 win at Charleston.

The host Trojans held a 3-1 lead when T-Town came to bat in the top of the sixth. With one out, Caleb Siemer and Caleb Bloemer singled and Luke Koester walked to load the bases. Garrett Gaddis also walked to force in the first run of the inning and Cade Buehnerkemper followed with a two-run single. After an error and a walk load the bases again, Logan Roepke was hit by a pitch to force in another run. The fifth run of the inning scored on a wild pitch.

Charleston scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to close to within 6-4, but the Shoes then scored three times in the top of the seventh. Gaddis had an RBI single and Mitch Althoff capped the scoring with a two-run homer.

Kayden Althoff pitched all seven innings to get the win. He gave up seven hits and four runs, while walking one and striking out eight.

The Shoes improved to 8-5 on the season. They will return to action Thursday at home against Mt. Zion.

Caleb Siemer lined a double over the centerfielder’s head in the bottom of the 10th inning, driving in two runs and giving the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes a walk-off 4-3 win at home Thursday over Mt. Zion.

The visiting Braves had scored a run in the top of the 10th, but the Shoes wasted no time turning that around in the bottom of the inning. Dylan Pruemer led off with a double and Garrett Gaddis walked. Pruemer went to third on a wild pitch and Gaddis stole second, setting the stage for Siemer, who smashed a 1-1 pitch deep into centerfield that allowed the winning runs to race home.

T-Town also had to rally in the seventh to send the game to extra innings. Trailing 2-1, Caleb Bloemer led with a base hit. He then stole second base and scored when Cade Buehnerkemper delivered a clutch RBI single.

The Shoes took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. Sam Bushur led off with a double, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Buehnerkemper.

Mt. Zion scored single tallies in the fifth and sixth.

Gaddis pitched the top of the 10th inning to get the win. Bushur was the starter and went the first 4-2 innings, giving up three hits and a run. Buehnerkemper went the next 4.1 innings and allowed two hits and a pair of runs. The three hurlers combined to walk 10 and strike out seven.

The Shoes improved to 9-5 on the season. They will return to action Saturday, traveling to Nashville.

THS collected 10 hits, with Caleb Siemer and Garrett Gaddis both getting two, and they took advantage of five Dieterich errors to score nine unearned runs.

In that opening inning, the Shoes scored four runs with just one hit. Cade Buehnerkemper reached on an error and Mitch Althoff then struck out, but reached base when strike three was a wild pitch. After the first run scored on a passed ball, Derek Konkel walked and Evan Waldhoff was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
