Mahomet-Seymour’s pitching was very good.

But the pitchers for Teutopolis were just a little bit better.

Derek Konkel and Dylan Pruemer combined to throw a two-hit shutout and the Shoes managed to push across a run in the sixth inning to post a 1-0 victory at home Monday afternoon.

With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Konkel, Max Niebrugge and Pruemer drew back-to-back-to-back walks to load the bases. Mitch Althoff’s ground ball then drove home Konkel with what proved to be the winning run.

The Bulldogs tried to tie or take the lead in the top of the seventh. A single and two walks loaded the bases with one out, but Pruemer struck out the final two batters to preserve the shutout and the win.

Konkel went the first four innings, allowing one hit and a walk, while striking out eight. Pruemer relieved in the fifth and pitched the final three innings. He also gave up a hit and three walks, but struck out six to gain the victory.

The Shoes were also limited to two hits in the contest. Logan Roepke had a two-out single in the second and Caleb Siemer had a one-out base hit in the fourth.

T-Town improved to 2-1 on the young season. The Shoes will be back in action today (Tuesday) with a game at Breese Mater Dei.

The fall baseball season didn’t end like they hoped, but the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes went down battling.

Trailing by three runs heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, the Shoes scored twice and had the bases loaded before the final out was recorded.

As a result, Windsor/Stew-Stras hung on for a 6-5 victory, snapping the Shoes seven-game winning streak.

With one out in the seventh, Logan Roepke, Dylan Pruemer and Caleb Siemer drew back-to-back-to-back walks to load the bases. Cade Buehnerkemper’s fly ball drove in one run. Luke Koester then walked to re-load the bases and Sam Bushur’s ground ball was booted for an error, allowing the second run to score. Mitch Althoff then grounded out to end the threat and the game.

The Shoes played from behind the entire game. The Hatchets combined four hits and a walk to tally four times in the opening inning.

But T-Town battled back. They scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first and then added single tallies in the third and sixth to close to within 4-3.

In the third, Bushur was hit by a pitch to start the inning and Mitch Althoff followed with an RBI triple. Kayden Althoff then walked, but WSS starting pitcher Gavin Wernsing struck out the next three batters to end the inning.

In the sixth, Buehnerkemper got a one-out single, went to second on a ground out and scored on a base hit by Bushur.

The Hatchets then tacked on two runs in the top of the seventh.

Wernsing went the first three innings to get the win. Derek Konkel pitched the first six innings for THS and took the loss. He allowed nine hits and five runs, while striking out four and walking two. Kayden Althoff got the final three outs in the seventh.

The Shoes ended the season strong. They won 10 of their final 12 games to finish with a 13-9 record. Their 2022 spring season will open March 15 at home against Neoga.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes and St. Louis Cardinals have a lot in common.

As the regular season winds down, both teams are playing their best baseball.

The Wooden Shoes stretched their winning steak to six after posting a doubleheader sweep at home Saturday over Putnam County.

T-Town scored in just one inning in both games, but it was enough to come away with a pair of wins – 9-0 in the opener and 1-0 in the nightcap. Both games were five innings.

Sam Bushur and Tyler Pruemer were both outstanding on the mound. Both turned in one-hit shutouts.

Bushur worked the opener and retired the first 10 batters he faced before giving up a one-out single in the fourth. He struck out eight and walked just one, Pruemer gave up a base hit in the third. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

The Shoes scored all nine of their runs in the second inning of the first game – and all nine were unearned. Derek Konkel started it by reaching first when he struck out, but the ball got away from the catcher. Logan Roepke reached on an error and Dylan Pruemer singled to load the bases. The first two runs scored when Caleb Siemer walked and Cade Buehnerkemper lifted a sacrifice fly.

After Luke Koester reached on an error to load the bases again, the next four batters delivered hits. Bushur had a two-run single, Mitch Althoff followed with an RBI base hit, Kayden Althoff drove home a pair with a double and Konkel added a run-scoring single. The final tally scored on a wild pitch.

Five of the Shoes seven hits came in that at-bat.

In the second game, THS pushed across its run in the bottom of the first. After the first two batters were retired, Brayden Gaddis singled, Siemer walked and Joey Ruholl delivered a base hit to drive in what proved to be the winning tally – and all the support Tyler Pruemer needed.

T-Town finished with five hits.

The Shoes have now won 9 of their last 10 games and improved to 12-8 on the season. They are scheduled to play at home today (Monday) against Dieterich.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes kept two streaks alive Monday afternoon.

They not only notched their seventh straight victory, they also recorded their third consecutive one-hit shutout.

Sam Bushur and Tyler Pruemer both tossed one-hitters Saturday against Putnam County and Cade Buehnerkemper made it three in a row with a one-hit gem against Dieterich.

The Wooden Shoes collected 11 hits, plus they received six walks and took advantage of seven errors to score nine unearned runs, en route to a 10-0, six-inning victory at home over the Movin’ Maroons.

Buehnerkemper was outstanding on the mound. He allowed only one hit – a lead-off single to Garrett Niebrugge in the sixth. The righthander struck out 11 and walked just one, while throwing 75 pitches.

Bushur accounted for the only run Buehnerkemper would need when he led off with a solo blast over the leftfield fence in the bottom of the first. The Shoes made it 2-0 in the second when Dylan Pruemer led off with a double and later scored on an error.

T-Town tallied three more times in the third. A base hit by Mitch Althoff and an error got things started. Logan Roepke then delivered a two-run single and Buehnerkemper added an RBI single.

The Shoes ended the game with a five-run sixth. Two errors let a pair of runs score, Jonathan Kemme added an RBI single and Mitch Althoff ended it with a two-run single.

The Shoes have now won 10 of their last 11 games and improved to 13-8 on the season. They are scheduled to play at home Wednesday against Windsor/Stew-Stras.

Derek Konkel blasted a first-inning, three-run homer and the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes then used a three-run fifth to break a tie, en route to a 7-4 victory Friday at St. Anthony.

It was the seventh win in eight games for the Shoes and avenged a 16-12 loss to the Bulldogs earlier in the season.

It started off great for the guests. The first four batters all reached base.

Sam Bushur and Mitch Althoff walked to start the game. Kayden Althoff singled up the middle to drive in Bushur and Konkel followed with a three-run shot that sailed over the leftfield fence that staked T-Town to the quick 4-0 lead.

The Bulldogs rallied to tie the game in the second. Brody Niebrugge walked and Beau Adams reached on an error. A wild pitch allowed the first run to score. Then with two outs, Eli Levitt singled and another error loaded the bases. Angelo Mendella lined a base hit to drive in two and Colton Fearday capped the four-run frame with an RBI single.

It stayed 4-4 until the pivotal fifth. Bushur, again, led things off with a base hit. An error and a single by Kayden Althoff loaded the bases. Konkel grounded into a double play, but the go-ahead run scored. Before the inning was over, Logan Roepke and Cade Buehnerkemper delivered two-out, run-scoring singles to put the Shoes up by three runs.

The Bulldogs were limited to just four hits and only one after the four-run second. That was a lead-off single by Brock Fearday leading off the sixth.

Kayden Althoff almost turned in a complete game. He went 6.2 innings, but was forced to leave after reaching the pitch count. He threw 106. Althoff allowed four hits and four unearned runs, while striking out eight and walking two. Burhnerkemper came in to get the final out.

Colton Fearday took the loss. He went the first 4.2 innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs, but only four were earned. He struck out six and walked four. Levitt pitched the final 2.1 innings and held THS scoreless, giving up just one hit.

The Bulldogs had their four-game winning streak snapped and dipped to 12-5 on the season. They are scheduled to play Monday at Odin.

T-Town improved to 10-8. The Shoes played host to Putnam County today (Saturday).
