Kamaree Pollard and Melaina Zedalis combined to score 54 points and help the Mt. Vernon Lady Rams rally for a 69-64 win at home Tuesday night over Teutopolis.

The Lady Shoes held a six-point lead at halftime, 35-29, but Zedalis pumped in 20 points and Pollard added 13 in the second half, helping the hosts outscore T-Town 40-29 in the final two quarters.

Chloe Probst and Allie Ruholl combined to score 24 first-half points for the Lady Shoes. Probst knocked down three shots from behind the arc, while Ruholl nailed two from long range, helping THS building the six-point lead at intermission.

Pollard finished with 29 points and Zedalis scored 25 for Mt. Vernon.

Teutopolis had four players in double figures. Chloe Probst led the way with 21 points, while Ruholl scored 17, Kelsey Niemerg had 12 and Anna Probst added 10.

It was the first loss of the season for the Lady Shoes, who are now 5-1. They will return to action Thursday with a game at Benton and will then have their home-opener Saturday afternoon against Olney.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes opened their 2024-25 season by winning three of four games and finishing in third place at the Capital Classic, played at both Lawrenceville and Red Hill high schools.

The Shoes split their first two games on Friday. They opened with a convincing 76-25 win over Mt Carmel, but then suffered their lone setback in the two-day event, dropping a 52-39 decision to Lawrenceville.

In the opener, T-Town raced to a 23-6 lead after the opening eight minutes and were never challenged. They led 43-14 at halftime and 60-23 after three quarters.

Jake Bushur, Drew Hoene and Gavin Addis all scored in double figures. Bushur led the way with 15 points, while Hoene and Addis finished with 13 and 12 respectively.

The Shoes had trouble generating offense in their second game. Lawrenceville built a 21-13 lead after the first period and were never headed. They led 32-19 at intermission and 43-27 heading into the final quarter.

Alex Kremer led the scoring attack with 12 points.

What an opening week for the Teutopolis Lady Shoes.

Four opponents. Four wins.

One tournament championship.

T-Town completed the four-game sweep with a pair of wins Saturday, including a 50-37 decision over the hosts in the championship game of the North American Lighting Tournament in Paris.

Earlier on Saturday, the Lady Shoes earned a berth in the final game by cruising to a 67-19 win over Olney.

In that Saturday morning contest, THS built a 13-2 lead after the first quarter and expanded it to 31-11 by halftime. Teutopolis then outscored Olney 22-6 in the third period to balloon the lead to 36 points, 53-17.

Mollie Ruholl led three players in double figures with 15 points. Anna Probst scored 12 and Chloe Probst added 10.

In the championship contest, the Lady Shoes faced a true challenge for the first time. They still led throughout, however.

Anna Probst and Chloe Probst combined to score 28 points Monday night, helping the Teutopolis Lady Shoes win their fifth straight game to open the season, posting a 48-25 victory at Salem.

Chloe Probst knocked down a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points in the opening period, as T-Town took a 17-10 lead. The Lady Shoes then outscored the hosts 23-11 over the middle two quarters and expanded their lead to 40-21.

Anna Probst finished with a game-high 15 points, while Chloe Probst scored 13.

The Lady Shoes, 5-0, will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with a game at Mt. Vernon.

Two impressive wins

Not a bad way to start the season.

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes built an early lead, had four players in double figures and cruised to a 68-29 victory Wednesday over Champaign Central in their second game of the North American Lighting Tournament in Paris.

Anna Probst scored nine points and T-Town raced to a 19-6 lead after the opening eight minutes. The lead ballooned to 20 points – 35-15 – by intermission. THS led 57-29 after three quarters and then held Champaign Central scoreless in the final period.

Anna Probst finished with a game-high 20 points. Kelsey Niemerg scored 13 and both Chloe Probst and Mollie Ruholl added 10.

The Lady Shoes will play two games on Saturday. They will face Olney at 11:30 a.m. in the Ernie Eveland Gymnasium in Paris.

The winner of that game will play for the tournament championship at 3:30 p.m. The loser will be in the third place game at 2 p.m. Both of those games will be at Paris High School.
