The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs played tough throughout, but Sullivan used a 12-5 scoring surge in the fourth quarter to come away with a 57-46 win Saturday afternoon at The Enlow Center.
The Lady Bulldogs led 12-10 after the first period and still owned a two-point edge, 27-25, at halftime. Sullivan came back to take a 45-41 lead after three quarters.
Emily White had 14 of her game-high 26 points in the second half, sparking Sullivan.
St. Anthony’s Riley Guy also had a strong game, pumping in 22 points. Guy had 15 of those in the final two periods. Reese Jones added 11 for the Lady Bulldogs.
St. Anthony dipped to 3-6 overall. The Lady Bulldogs will play three National Trail Conference games this week – Monday at home against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City; Wednesday at Neoga; and Saturday at St. Elmo/Brownstown. St. Anthony is 3-2 in the NTC.
The St. Anthony Bulldogs stayed unbeaten in National Trail Conference play after posting a 58-37 victory at home Friday night over Windsor/Stew-Straws.
The Bulldogs built a 13-7 lead after the first eight minutes. Ty Wiedman, who got his first start of the season, knocked down a trio of three-pointers in the second quarter, helping SAHS expand its lead to 32-18 at intermission.
St. Anthony led 45-29 after three periods and got a pair of three-pointers from James Schuette in the final quarter to secure the win.
Wiedman finished with five threes and a team-high 15 points, while Schuette added 12 and Craig Croy scored nine.
St. Anthony improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the NTC. The Bulldogs will play a non-conference game today (Saturday) at Flora.
For the second straight game, the St. Anthony Bulldogs used an offensive explosion to break a game open.
Tuesday night, it was 26-point second period that sparked the Bulldogs to a win at South Central.
Wednesday night, it was a huge second half that made the difference at Dieterich.
St. Anthony outscored the Movin’ Maroons 33-14 in the final two quarters to pull away and post a 60-30 road win that kept the Bulldogs undefeated in the National Trail Conference play.
SAHS led throughout. Kennan Walsh scored six points, helping the Bulldogs build a 16-6 lead after the opening eight minutes. The two teams played on even terms in the second quarter. At halftime, St. Anthony led 27-16.
But the Bulldogs came out red hot in the third period. Craig Croy drilled a pair from long range and scored 12 points, while Walsh added seven more, and the lead started to expand. St. Anthony outscored the Movin’ Maroons 21-10 and held a comfortable 48-26 lead heading into the final quarter.
Croy led the scoring attack with a game-high 17 points and Walsh finished with 16.
St. Anthony improved to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the NTC. The Bulldogs will play at home Friday against Windsor/Stew-Stras and then travel to Flora on Saturday.
Altamont’s Grace Nelson was back at it again Thursday night.
The freshman sensation poured in 36 points, leading the Lady Indians to a 74-51 win at home over St. Anthony.
Altamont led 20-14 after the opening eight minutes, but expanded that lead to 42-24 at halftime and 61-39 after three quarters.
Nelson’s teammate Brooke Runge scored 16 points and both girls pulled down eight rebounds.
St. Anthony’s Lucy Fearday also had a big game. The sophomore turned in an impressive double-double, scoring 24 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Riley Guy chipped in 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
SAHS shot 33 percent overall, connecting on 20-of-61 attempts. They were 2-of-10 from long range and 9-of-14 from the foul line. The Lady Bulldogs held a 42-33 rebounding edge, but turned the ball over 22 times.
St. Anthony dipped to 3-5 overall and 3-2 in the National Trail Conference. The Lady Bulldogs will return home to face Sullivan on Saturday.
The St. Anthony Lady Bulldogs used a big second half to pull away and post a 64-47 National Trail Conference victory Wednesday night at South Central.
St. Anthony held a slim 28-25 lead at halftime, but then took control in the final 16 minutes. Lucy Fearday scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half, helping the Lady Bulldogs outscore South Central 36-22.
Fearday had six points in the third period, while Riley Guy scored five and Izzy Hackman added four, as SAHS increased its lead to 46-35. In that final period, it was a steady parade to the foul line and the Lady Bulldogs converted 10-of-16 to expand its lead.
Guy led St. Anthony with 24 points. She had 16 of those in the first half. Hackman was also in double figures, adding 10 points to the offensive attack.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the National Trail Conference. They will play again tonight (Thursday) at Altamont and then return home to face Sullivan on Saturday.
