It was an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel.

St. Anthony’s Gavin Braunecker and North Clay’s Tyson Jones matched each other pitch-for-pitch through six scoreless innings Friday.

But the Bulldogs took advantage of a key error and Kaden Fearday then delivered a clutch two-out hit, helping St. Anthony tally four times in the seventh, en route to a 4-1 road victory.

Braunecker allowed only five hits and one unearned run, while walking five and striking out four in his 105-pitch, complete-game performance. North Clay had two runners on base in three different innings, but the Bulldogs lefty continually made good pitches and prevented the Cardinals from getting a key hit.

Jones, meanwhile, quieted the St. Anthony bats, giving up only a double by Kaden Fearday through six innings. He walked four and fanned three in 6.2 innings of work.

In the seventh, Logan Antrim led off with a double and Colton Fearday walked to get St. Anthony rally going. With one out, Angelo Mendella reached on a fielder’s choice to load the bases. With two outs, Jack Hoene then hit a ground ball that was misplayed, allowing two runs to score, and Kaden Fearday followed with a base hit to drive home two more.

North Clay scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Bulldogs improved to 10-5 on the season. They will play today (Saturday) in the North Clay Showcase.

Kaden Fearday turned in a dominating pitching performance and Kennan Walsh had a bases loaded triple, leading the St. Anthony Bulldogs to a 6-0 win at home Tuesday over Windsor/Stew-Stras.

Fearday allowed only three hits in his 89-pitch, shutout performance. He walked just one and struck out seven.

The Bulldogs scored all the runs they needed with a four-run second. Davis Tingley and Aaron Webb both reached on errors and Logan Antrim singled to load the bases. Gavin Braunecker drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and after Eli Moore single to load the bases again, Walsh delivered the key hit of the game, bringing all three runners in with his triple.

St. Anthony scored single tallies in the fourth and fifth to complete the scoring.

The Bulldogs, who improved to 9-5, will return to action Friday at North Clay.

The Dieterich Movin’ Maroons received seven walks in the fifth inning and turned them into seven runs, en route to an 8-1 win at home Friday afternoon over St. Anthony.

The game was tied at 1-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth. A single and two walks got things started and was followed by two more base hits and five walks, helping the Movin’ Maroons take control of the contest.

And that was more than enough for Matt Hunzinger, who gave up just two hits and an unearned run in his 89-pitch performance. He walked one and struck out six while going the distance.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. Logan Antrim walked, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jack Hoene and scored on an error. Kaden Fearday had a one-out single in the fourth and Aaron Webb got a base hit with two outs in the seventh, but those were the team’s only hits

St. Anthony dropped to 7-5 on the season. The Bulldogs will play at home Monday against Ramsey.

St. Anthony took advantage of nine errors to score five unearned runs, en route to a 9-0 win at home over Ramsey Monday afternoon.

Seth Hotze and Brody Niebrugge combined to toss a two-hitter. Hotze went the first four innings to get the win. He allowed just one hit, while walking four and striking out three. Niebrugge pitched the final three innings to get the save. He also allowed only one hit, while walking one and fanning six.

The Bulldogs scored what proved to be the two winning runs in the second. Aaron Webb reached on an error and went to second on a sacrifice bunt. He then stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Gavin Braunecker. Eli Moore then got a two-single, went to second on an error and scored on a base hit by Angelo Mendella.

St. Anthony then tacked on six more runs in the third. Jack Hoene and Kaden Fearday both had RBI singles and Braunecker drew a base loaded walk. The other three runs all scored on errors.

The Bulldogs pushed across their final run in the fifth on a wild pitch.

St. Anthony, now 8-5 on the season, will be at home Tuesday against Windsor/Stew-Stras.

What a game for Kaden Fearday.

He belted two home runs and drove in six to lead the St. Anthony Bulldogs to their sixth win in seven games, a 7-4 verdict at Neoga.

Fearday blasted a two-run homer in the fifth and then added a three-run shot in the sixth to help the Bulldogs pull away. He added an RBI single in the seventh to complete the scoring.

Angelo Mendella, who also went deep in the seventh, got things started offensively in the third with a base hit. Jack Hoene then singled and Kaden Fearday walked to load the bases. An error let in the first run and Gavin Braunecker drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-0.

Fearday’s round-tripper made it 4-0 in the fifth and his three-run blast, along with Aaron Webb’s RBI double, increased the SAHS lead to 8-2.

Webb was also the winning pitcher. He tossed the first four innings, giving up six hits and two runs, while walking three and fanning six. Colton Fearday pitched the final three innings to earn the save. He didn’t allow a baserunner and struck out four.

The Bulldogs, now 7-4, have been hot offensively. In each of their last six wins, they have scored 10 or more runs.

St. Anthony will return to play today (Friday) at Dieterich.
