Kaden Fearday pitched a complete game and Davis Tingley had three hits and three RBI Tuesday, leading St. Anthony to an 11-1, six-inning win at home over Neoga.
Fearday allowed just four hits and the single run, while walking two and striking out 10 in his 85-pitch outing.
And Fearday received plenty of offensive support, beginning in the first inning.
Logan Antrim led off with a base hit, stole second and Kaden Fearday helped his own cause with an RBI single, followed by a run-scoring double by Tingley to make it 2-0.
It was a 2-1 game until the Bulldogs tallied three times in the fourth. Tingley started things off with a double, followed by a walk to Aaron Webb and a base hit by Kennan Walsh to load the bases. Eli Moore delivered an RBI single, Angelo Mendella drove in the second run with a ground out and the third tally came across on a wild pitch.
Colton Fearday added a two-run single in the fifth and St. Anthony ended the game with a four-run sixth. Singles by Moore and Antrim and a walk to Brody Niebrugge loaded the bases. After a wild pitch scored one, Tingley ripped a two-run triple and then scored on a passed ball.
The Bulldogs, who improved to 6-4, will play Thursday at Neoga.
St. Anthony scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away for a 10-4 win in the opening game of a doubleheader Saturday at Altamont.
The host Indians came back to win the nightcap, 7-3.
In the first game, the Bulldogs built a 5-0 lead, before Altamont trimmed the lead to 5-3 after six innings. But St. Anthony secured the win with a five-run seventh.
Jack Hoene singled and Kaden Fearday followed with a double to start the inning. The first run scored on a wild pitch and the second on a sacrifice fly by Davis Tingley. Colton Fearday then walked and Kennan Walsh ripped an RBI triple. St. Anthony then received three straight walks and scored its final two runs on passed balls.
Logan Antrim went the first four innings and got the win. He allowed only one run and one hit, while walking five and striking out seven.
Altamont returned the favor in the second game, tallying five times in the bottom of the fifth to take control of the game.
The two teams were tied 1-1 after three innings. The Indians then scored one run in the fourth and combined three hits, three walks and two Bulldog errors to cross the plate five times in the fifth.
St. Anthony got a sacrifice fly by Aaron Webb in the sixth and an RBI single by Angelo Mendella in the seventh, following another triple by Walsh.
Seth Hotze was the starter and loser for the Bulldogs. He went 4.2 innings and allowed five hits and seven runs. He also walked four and struck out three.
St. Anthony, now 5-4, will host Neoga on Tuesday.
Aaron Webb fired a two-hitter and Eli Moore drove home four runs Wednesday, leading the St. Anthony Bulldogs to a 10-0, six-inning victory at home over Odin/Patoka.
Webb didn’t walk a batter and struck out four in his 83-pitch performance. The guests had only five baserunners the entire game and Webb retired the side in order three times.
Moore, along with Kennan Walsh, Davis Tingley, Webb and Angelo Mendella, each had two hits to lead the 13-hit attack. The Bulldogs scored in every inning but the first.
The three-run second proved to be all the runs St. Anthony needed. Tingley, Webb and Gavin Braunecker each singled to start the inning. Moore drove home two with a base hit and Mendella’s single made it 3-0.
Moore had another RBI single as part of a three-run third and Walsh drove home a tally in the fourth to increase the Bulldogs advantage to 7-0.
Moore’s fourth RBI came on a ground out in the fifth, followed by a run-scoring triple by Mendella. Tingley ended the contest with a base hit that drove home the 10th run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Bulldogs, who improved to 3-3 on the season, will host Altamont at 4:30 p.m. Friday and then play at Altamont Saturday at 10 a.m.
Gavin Braunecker allowed just four hits and retired 13 straight batters during one stretch, helping the St. Anthony Bulldogs post a 10-1 win Friday at home over Altamont.
Braunecker allowed three of the hits and the only run in the opening inning. He didn’t allow another baserunner until a lead-off single in the sixth. He struck out six in his 91-pitch performance.
It was a 1-1 pitcher’s duel until the Bulldogs erupted for four runs in the fifth and added five more tallies in the sixth to break the game open.
Seven Altamont errors accounted for eight unearned runs.
In the fifth, Kennan Walsh led off with a base hit and scored on an error, the first of three in that inning. Kaden Fearday and Davis Tingley had back-to-back RBI doubles and the fourth tally scored on an error.
In the sixth, Eli Moore and Angelo Mendella had run-scoring singles, Jack Hoene and Kaden Fearday both drove in runs with ground outs and the final tally scored on a wild pitch.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-3 on the fall season. They will face the Indians again today, this time at Altamont.
Jack Hoene drove in three runs and Brody Niebrugge turned in a strong pitching performance Friday afternoon, helping the St. Anthony Bulldogs post their first win of the season, a 5-2 decision at home over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.
Hoene drove in a run in the first with a ground ball and then put the Bulldogs ahead to stay with a two-run single in the second.
After giving up two runs in the opening inning, Niebrugge settled in and went five innings. He allowed just two hits and two runs, one of which was unearned. He walked three and struck out nine. Colton Fearday relieved in the sixth, and with two outs and two runners on base, Kennan Walsh came on to strike out the final batter and earn the save.
St. Anthony fell behind 2-0, but cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the first. Logan Antrim drew a lead-off walk, went to second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on a ground ball by Hoene.
After two outs in the second, the Bulldogs put together what proved to be the winning rally. Eli Moore reached on an error, and Walsh and Antrim both walked to load the bases. Hoene then delivered a base hit up the middle that drove home two runs. He then stole second, and on the play, Antrim raced home with the third tally of the inning to give the hosts a 4-2 edge.
St. Anthony tacked on one more run in the fifth. Kaden Fearday walked, Davis Tingley singled and Fearday scored on a ground out by Aaron Webb.
The Bulldogs, now 1-2, will play today (Saturday) in the Wooden Bat Classic, hosted by Teutopolis.
